The Coalition to End Sheriff Violence has been fighting for effective civilian oversight over the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for almost three years. In December of last year the County Board of Supervisors approved the creation of a Civilian Oversight Commission and appointed a working group to decide recommendations for the commissions size, scope, responsibilities and powers.
